I can’t believe its been a little over a week since i decided to go vegan. Time has flown by and i can honestly say it has been amazing so far. Since i promised that i would write a weekly up date once a week for 30 days, i decided to write a post now before another week passes by and i forget to keep you all updated. So without further interruption here is a list of what ive learned/ experienced during my first week vegan.
- Bloat. The day i decided to go vegan i decided to research what i should expect from my body. Every single blog post, expert and doctor said that bloat is the number one complaint. And they were right ! I have never experience bloating so intense in my life ! However, It was to be expected due to the sudden increase of fiber in my diet. After about 4 days the bloating subsided, and my body is now use to all the extra fiber.
- Eat.Eat. Eat and Eat. Oddly enough i am consuming so much more food than i regularly do and yet i lost two pounds (yay). Last Saturday i learned the hard way that if i did not eat a substantial meal it would throw the rest of my day off. Although i ate lunch it was not a very hearty lunch and i felt hungry an hour or so later. The lack of food made me an emotional wreck and although i ate dinner i still felt hungry after. Lesson learned. I now try my best to eat hearty meals so that i avoid snacking throughout the day, and avoid any hunger melt downs.
- Research. To me this was the most important lesson, and it made the transition so much easier. The first thing i did was research vegan friendly items in my nearest supermarket. There are so many blogs that give great insider tips on where you can buy vegan foods, and what restaurants have vegan options. I was happily surprised at all the great vegan foods that Target sold, also Trader Joes has alot of great vegan items. I would not have found out about these places if i did not research.
